The largest city in Louisiana, New Orleans is a major U.S port and the center of the Greater New Orleans Metropolitan area. The city is located in the southeastern Louisiana, straddling the Mississippi River, and is named after Philippe II, Duc d’Orléans, Regent of France. It is well known for its multicultural and multilingual heritage cuisine, architecture, music, and its annual celebrations and festivals.
Baton Rouge:
The capital and second largest city in the state of Louisiana, Baton Rouge has for nickname “Red Stick”, which is the direct translation of the city name from French. The city is located in the southeast portion of the state along the Mississippi River and is a major industrial, petrochemical, and port center of the American South.
The seat of Caddo Parish, and part of the Shreveport-Bossier City Metropolitan Area, Shreveport extends slightly into neighboring Bossier Parish. It is the commercial and cultural center of the Ark-La-Tex, the area where Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas meet.
